CERAMICS, a group show featuring mixed media ceramics by Donald Locke and six other ceramicists from across the country. Marcia Wood Gallery Midtown. The exhibition continues February 18 through March 19, 2016. Included in the show will be The Legacy of Hernando Cortez: Malinche, 2009, a large ceramic sculpture, 34″ tall, depicting scenes of Conquistadores, a reference Locke used in many of his drawings and paintings around 2008-2009.

Currently at Clark Atlanta University Art Galleries, 223 James P. Brawley Drive, Trevor Arnett Hall, 2nd Floor, Atlanta, GA 3031; January 17 through July 1, 2016: THIS POSTMAN COLLECTS, SELECTIONS FROM THE KERRY and C BETTY DAVIS COLLECTION. Their collection amassed over 35 years, highlights numerous major African American artists in all media, from the 1940′s to 2015.

Driskell Center Acquires Two Bronze Sculptures by Locke from the Baccus Collection COLLEGE PARK, Md.―The University of Maryland’s David C. Driskell Center for the Study of the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora (Driskell Center) announced today a bequest of more than 225 collected artworks valued at more than $2.2 million from the estate of the late Sandra Anderson Baccus and her husband, Lloyd T. Baccus, M.D. Mrs. Baccus, who passed in 2012, and her husband, who passed in 2006, lived in Roswell, Ga., where they led their medical business, Correctional Medial Associates, Inc., for more than 25 years. Mrs. Baccus served on the Driskell Center board from 2004 to 2006. Read the full article here.
